Surgery

Our spacious surgical suite is a separate wing off the hospital building. The Operating Room environment is controlled by a separate ventilation system with access limited to personnel in surgical attire. The adjoining fully padded induction and recovery stall is monitored from platforms outside the stall where hospital personnel can observe and assist patient recovery.

Anesthesia is maintained via inhalation of anesthetic gas delivered thorough an endotracheal tube to provide safe, highly controlled anesthesia. Anesthetized patients are monitored with an ECG and blood pressure via a direct arterial line.

A partial list of the surgical procedures we commonly perform includes:

  • Angular Limb Deformities - Periosteal stripping and transphyseal bridging
  • Colic surgery
  • Closed Castrations
  • Cryosurgery for skin cancer and glaucoma
  • Cryptorchid Castration
  • Dental Extractions
  • Enucleation (Eye Removal) and prosthesis
  • Eyelid Tattoo
  • Hernia Repair - Umbilical and Inguinal
  • Hoof wall resection
  • Joint Lavage
  • Ovarectomy (Spay)
  • Skin Grafting
  • Tonotomy for club foot and fetlock contracture
  • Wound Repair and skin grafts
